Clinical Massage Therapist and Bodyworker
Spending much of her childhood in Germany, Cathy has had a life-long interest in how complementary therapies can help with health and wellbeing. This, coupled with a fascination and curiosity about the anatomy and physiology of the human body and her desire to give people the tools to help stimulate their own natural healing mechanisms, led to her study of clinical massage therapies, initially with The Edinburgh Therapy Academy (Dip ITEC) and latterly with The Jing Institute of Advanced Massage and Training.
She is also an IAIM qualified baby massage instructor (CIMI) and a member of the Complementary Therapist Association (CThA). Cathy has been practising since 2001 and has recently returned to her therapies after taking time out to look after her elderly parents.
Her primary focus is to offer bespoke, discerning treatments to address clients’ specific and often complex requirements. She does this by using an integrated approach, combining her various skills, to create unique, tailor-made bodywork sessions.
These include techniques from Swedish massage, clinical aromatherapy, clinical reflexology and Indian head massage, as well as trigger point, myofascial and scar tissue release, soft tissue release, stretching, craniosacral, trauma release and natural pain relief.
As well as being prescriptive, each treatment is designed to be nurturing, deeply relaxing and mood balancing and to assist in the maintenance of good health.
Cathy can also create specific aromatherapy home care products for additional support between treatments.
