Alison Suggett

Alison originally trained as a nurse and then gained a BA(Hons) in French and Philosophy in 1990, before training to become a person-centred counsellor at the University of Strathclyde in 1993. She became a certified person-centred supervisor in 2007 and a UKRCP Registered IndependentCounsellor/Psychotherapist in 2008.

Since 1993 Alison has worked extensively as a student counsellor at Strathclyde University and then as a psychotherapist/counsellor in General Practice in the West, East and Central Lothians, as well as having a small private practice in Edinburgh. She has now retired to East Lothian and is focusing on her private practice and supervision.

Alison explains

"I am a person-centred counsellor/psychotherapist and as such I truly believe that we know at some level the answers to what is troubling us - it's just a question of finding the right environment in which to bring them into the light!

It may sound simplistic, but an accepting, empathic and honest companion in your troubles will help you find that light of understanding. I have years of experience of providing this safe, secure and confidential environment to work in, so let me help you explore whatever it is that is troubling you.

I really do not specialise in any particular area of the human condition. You have a choice in what you bring to our space and our hour together. Come and see, you may be surprised by what comes up!"

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
